The village hall welcomes: Fillongley Parish Plan!
What is it?
The parish plan is the document which will summarise our ambitions for
our community. It covers everything which we identify, everything which is
important to us in our progress as a community. e.g. Building and
development in the parish, roads and footpaths, transport, open spaces,
industry, the church, school, medical facilities, the post office, shops,
pubs and clubs, recreational facilities, allotments, adult education, scouts
and guides, provisions for young people, village hall, ....etc. etc.
How will it be produced?
The Parish Council will initiate and lead the work, setting up a panel of
activists'. This group will contact all elements of our community, and
recruit extra members to become fully representative of our community. There
will be a process of consultation, contacting everyone, to identify a
comprehensive list of issues and concerns. Then a questionnaire will be
produced, to evaluate these issues and concerns, which will be issued to
everyone in our community. Finally, results will be produced in document
form.
Why is it needed?
Fillongley, like all parts of the UK., is experiencing change. Nothing
stays the same. It is easy for our community to lose its way, and lose
heart. The plan gives us a chance to be proactive, a chance to influence
change, a chance to give it direction and achieve best outcomes. The plan
gives us a chance to decide individually what we want for our community and
to shape the environment, in which we live and our children grow. The plan
will inspire and help local organisations with their own developments and
help to obtain grant money when this is eligible. The local authority will
help us with the plan and use it - e.g. to influence planning decisions.
What is happening?
The first meetings have taken place to revitalise progress toward the
parish plan. A small group, led by John O'Brien, having promoted the idea.
At the last meeting someone from Harbury and someone from Water Orton, each
showed their own parish plan document and explained how it had been
compiled. The next meeting on the 12th of May will set objectives and set up
the first group of 'activists'.
What will you do?
I intend to represent myself and my family, because we value and benefit
from, our village community. What will you do when you are approached, at
home or in your local organisations???
